RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus [RUMC] (formerly Penang Medical College) is Malaysia’s first accredited private medical school, owned and established by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and University College Dublin (UCD), two world-renowned medical universities in Ireland. The University is recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and Irish Medical Council (IMC) as graduating high performing doctors. Students are recognised for practice in the USA, Canada, and others by the ECFMG and FAIRMER with the institution listed as an Irish medical school in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS). RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus offers foundation studies, medical degree (Dublin-Penang) and postgraduate studies.

We have assisted our client to revamp their website, making it more visual appealing and user-friendly. Upon revamping RUMC’s website, we started with brainstorming and proposing new design layouts, producing wireframe designs, site development, site testing and finally successfully launched it. We have only used ‘Poppins’ throughout the entire site, but we played around with the different thickness to create emphasise on headings and important points. We also added gradient to some of the words and lines so they look elegant.

On the home page, we produced a modern typography video as an introduction to students or their parents to know more about the institution. We have also added some animation to the website to make them more interactive and fun to navigate around. The home page is quite content heavy, so we have included a lot of images and videos to prevent it from looking too boring. Therefore, it is very important that we compress all the images and videos before uploading them to the server. Otherwise, it will increase the loading time of the home page and will result in high bounce rate.

We didn’t just use one template for the subpages. Instead, we mix and match with different elements that match with their brand identity to make them look clean and consistent. In the subpages, we have also incorporated some animation and special features.

Most of their users browse their webite on their mobile phones, therefore the website must be mobile friendly. It was tested on different phones and tablets before going live.
